Movie Making for Kids Creatives
In this activity packed day, kids ages 7-13 will have the chance to learn from local award winning filmmaker, Victoria Hagni, on the fundamentals of movie making! The morning session will allow students to film on their own smartphone or recording device. We will look at how to create great composition, camera angles, and how to practice good lighting setup. We’ll discuss story structure from the classic “Hero’s journey” outline, and then move into groups where kids will be assigned different roles on a movie set. Students will have a break for lunch between sessions. In the afternoon session we will experiment with how to capture good audio and learn how to move a story idea into an official storyboard. The final part of the day will be spent filming each group's short story students created from their storyboard.
*Students will need to bring their own device for filming. If a device is needed, please contact Victoria at
